FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Wishful LinkingMinnesotans To Show Support and Appreciation WithCare Packages and Communication To Those Serving Our Country OverseasSt. Paul, Minn. (May 27, 2005) -- The Saint Paul Chamber of Commerce, TDS Metrocom, and Operation America Cares have created a partnership to provide care packages and live, real-time communication magic for Minnesotans to connect with their loved ones serving overseas in the military. The TDS Metrocom/Operation America Cares Wishful Linking & Wish List Collection will be launched on Friday, May 27 at 10:30 a.m. The Saint Paul Chamber is hosting the event in their office at 401 North Robert Street, Suite 150, in Saint Paul. Local companies and individuals are encouraged to make donations of phone cards, personal hygiene items and other necessities. Donations will be accepted throughout 2005 at the Saint Paul Chamber offices. Once collected, Operation America Cares will assemble care packages and send them to military personnel who are currently serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. Operation America Cares also helps support the families of the military by partnering with businesses, organizations, sports team and more. The partnership with TDS Metrocom allows them to provide live audio and video links at no cost that enable face-to-face communication opportunities for family and community members with loved ones serving oversees. TDS Metrocom has installed a T1 line, computer, webcam and software/hardware in the Saint Paul Chamber office. Family members may speak with their loved ones serving overseas for FREE at their convenience, seven days a week. Appointments are necessary and may be arranged by calling PHONE NUMBER???? Email??? During the Wish List Kickoff Event, any soldier currently serving in Iraq with the Minnesota National Guard, will visit with his family via the TDS Metrocom live, two-way video and audio hook-up.
